That thing that you keep avoiding is getting bigger every single day and you know what it is and you do not need me to describe it, right?
It's the email, it's the invoice, it's the conversation, whatever you've been avoiding that at one point it feels like they have their own or it has its own gravity, right?
And every morning you think about it and every morning you put aside and every night is still there.
And the longer you're going to leave it, the larger it grows until it just feels like it's not even a task anymore.
But it is evidence.
And this is where the tricky part comes in, right?
Evidence that what?
That you cannot follow through or that you're not capable, that you will always find a reason not to start.
Not really.
So this is where coaching comes in.
This avoidance is not laziness.
So that's what we're starting with, right?
It is what happens technically when the fear of doing something badly,
badly becomes more unbearable than the discomfort of not doing it at all, right?
So your brain is literally trying to protect you
from something that it has decided is dangerous.
And it is just very wrong about what dangerous means.
So this is what I do with my clients.
I make them take out a piece of paper.
It's a very simple exercise and write down the one thing that you have been avoiding for the longest.
And then you want to write one sentence and finish it completely.
The worst realistic outcome, if I do this badly, is blank.
And read it back to yourself and ask yourself, honestly, is that actually survivable?
Then do five minutes of it.
Not because I want you to finish it.
Not because I want you to do it well.
just to prove to your brain that it will not cure you.
